Our team at Ocean Stars Lanka recently visited several of our projects in Trincomalee and Kilinochchi. This annual trip is a highlight for our staff and has taken a lot of planning.
Our Sri Lankan partner, Ocean Stars Lanka, is a registered charity with its office based in Batticaloa. While the hub of our operations is in the Eastern Province, we are an all-island registered NGO, supporting communities across Sri Lanka.
The first visit was to our preschool in Vellaimanal, China Bay. Our staff received a warm welcome from the students, teachers, and parents. It was a joyful occasion as school uniforms and new bags for the upcoming school year were distributed.
This preschool was built in response to the devastation caused by the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, and the whole community expressed deep gratitude for the continued support that makes education and opportunity possible for their children.
